Time to pause for lavender toes

Good evening...

Yesterday was my father's 6th year of his passing from non-hodgkins lymphoma. Two weeks prior to my father's passing, my mother got out of the house and went and got a manicure and pedicure.

She ran into a lady that was headed to the beach with her family for spring break and was getting her toes done a lavender purple with a white flower, yellow dot center and green stem added to her big toes.

My mother loved the idea and asked to borrow the woman's toenail polish.

My mother got her toes painted the same as the woman's and came home and told my sister.

My sister loved the idea so much she quietly started making phone calls all over town to family and friends telling them the purple toenail story and asking them to go to this peticular nail place and ask for them to get the same lavendar color and flower on their big toes too.

After my father's memorial service back at my mother's house my sister had every one to gather and she read a passage about feet from the bible. She then asked my mother to remove her shoes and as she removed her shoes to show off her lavender toes most of the women in the room, unbeknownst to my mother took off their shoes and showed off their toes too. My mother howled and howled and cried and cried.

My mother kept up the lavender toe tradition until this past year when she remarried. My sisters and I still continue the tradition. I want to show you:

March - National Nutrition Month

Good afternoon bloggers...

So, March is National Nutrition Month... who knew?? The whole month has almost past us by and I just found out that March is National Nutriton Month?? Wow, I guess knowing later is better than never knowing huh??

March is National Nutrition Month!!

So juicing fruit and vegetables... When I first started juicing I mixed every fruit and vegetable that I could get my hands on. I got my husband involved helping me juice and eventually he really enjoyed juicing and took it upon himself that he was "The Juicing Man" of our house hold. At that time I was drink 20 oz of juice every day.

My sister later inquired about my juicing every fruit and vegetable I could get my hands on and she sat me down for a long chat.

My sister explained to me that fruit was sweet and had sugar in it, natural sugar, but sugar none the less. Too much sugar overloads the body and no one needs sugar overloads in their bodies. She also told me that no one ever needs 20 oz of juice all at one time, ever. It was time for me to cut way back on the amount of juice I was drinking down to 6-8oz per day. It seemed to my sister that I was also not getting enough vegetables within the juicing so she told me to cut way back on the fruit and add more dark green leavy vegetables with lemons/and or limes with an apple.

So I did. Out went all the lucious sweet fruit and in came the darkest green leafy vegetables I could find, down to 6-8oz a day. I added carrots sometimes and tomatoes too but stuck with the dark green leafy vegetables.

Later, my sister explained to me in actuality that vegeables were to be juiced and fruit was to be blended. So I now have totally separated my vegetables with the lemons/and or limes and apple in juicing with frozen fruit, almond milk, cinnoman and ginger to make fruit smoothies.

Today, my everyday breakfast drink is a pear and ginger smoothie.

In a blender add:

3 ripe pears sliced and cored (not peeled)
2-3 large handfuls of  raw spinach or baby lettuces
1 large handful fresh mint leaves
1 tsp ground ginger or 1/2 inch fresh ginger
1/2 tsp cinnoman
6 tbsps lemon juice
2 cups water

Blend until smooth. Pour 6-8 oz in a cup and drink. You may have to adjust the consistancy with a little more water if it is too thick. Enjoy.

My afternoon snack on accassion is a banana fruit smoothie.

In a blender add:

1 banana sliced (room temp or frozen)
1 large handful berries of your choice (room temp or frozen)
2 cups Almond milk
1/2 tsp cinnoman
1 tsp ground ginger or 1/2 inch fresh ginger
1 tbsp Carob Powder (Optional)

Blend until smooth and creamy. Pour 6-8 oz into a cup and drink. I personally like to use all frozen fruit because it makes the smoothie thicker and colder. Enjoy.

Enough for now... more later.

God Bless!!

The Alkaline Food Chart

Good afternoon blogger friends!! Today, I thought I'd share the Alkaline Food Chart with you.

What is the Alkaline Food Chart, you ask??

The Alkaline Food Chart is a chart that shows all Alkalined foods vs Acidic foods.
Why is this chart important you ask??

The Alkaline Food Chart is important because studies have proven and shown that people need more Alklined foods in their diet than they need Acidic foods.

An example of an Alkalined food would be: an avacado, Lima beans or granulated soy. An example of an Acidic food would be: Beer, Coffee or sweetened Fruit Juice.

The Alkaline Food Chart www.acidalkalindiet.com gives you a color chart (Red -Acidic, Green - Alkaline) of both Alkaline and Acidic foods within their own food catagory and PH ratings. At the end of the chart (7 printable pages) there is also a diet plan and questions to answer before starting the diet plan.

The Alkaline vs Acidic foods was one of the first things my sister started talking to me about before I started juicing, making smoothies and preparing raw meals.

Enjoy the chart, figure out the best plan for you and start to eat healthier and feeling your best!!

Over the coarse of a year - February 2011-March 2012

Good morning blogger friends!!
So, where to begin?? I will start back a little over a year ago where my sisters and I were planning a trip and one sister got so sick she couldn't go, so we canceled the trip.

It turns out my sister wasn't just run of the mill sick, she was really sick and the sickness was affecting her organs.

What did my sister do about her sickness you ask?? Well she dove into biblical scripture, rested in the Lord, learned how to juice dark green leafy vegetables, prepare raw meals, drink fruit smoothies, exercise on a regular basis, cleanse and detox her body in steam rooms and saunas and within 6-8 months time all of her organs and blood work came back NORMAL. My sister was healed. All the Praise be to our God on High!!

My sister started talking to me about everything she had been doing and found out about and started encouraging me to follow in her foot steps being a Breast Cancer survivor and having difficulties with my weight and all. I resisted at first, sat back and watch and eventually said to myself "It doesn't look all that hard, maybe I'll try it - one day."

I had a purse party that summer and my sister brought several of her raw meal samples that were really good. Most everyone at the party enjoyed the raw meal samples, they were a hit!!

I first started on Juice Plus - dehydrated, ground, fruit and vegetable tablets. Then I started juicing all the fruit and vegetables I could find. I loved it... I loved all the colors I created in the juicing.

From there, I stopped eating red meat all together. I added more fresh fruits and vegtables to my diet and switch from whole milk to Almond milk.

January 2012, my church communitively did the "Daniel Fast" - a 21 day prayer and fasting that gave several choices on how to fast. My choice was to only eat fresh fruit, vegetables, nuts, seeds, grains and peas and beans. I stopped drinking coffee, I ate no dairy, bread or pastas of any kind.

I had never done a Daniel Fast before and I actually finished the whole 21 days. I was so proud!! There is a saying "Do something for 21 days and whatever it may be will become natural, second nature to you."

Now I have been working out for several years with out stopping... I have finally figured out that I like working out and it really is good for my body. My trainer asked me to start eating Chicken, Fish and Turkey back into my diet for my muscles and I have reluctantly agreed.

My sister has taught me how to prepare several raw dishes in the course of this time that I now constantly make and she has also taught me how to dehydrate foods too.

Today, my sister is a Health Minister. She goes around her home area and teaches people all about foods both good and bad and teaches people how to prepare raw meals, juicing dark green leafy vegetables and fruit smoothies too.
Anyone out there interested in learning more?? Feel free to contact me.

More later...
