Good evening bloggers...
The day after the holiday, in this case Easter 2012 was surprisingly easy getting back on track with my healthy eating regiment.
The last three or four days I sort of broke down and ate what I used to eat before I became so healthy in my eating style and regiment.
I'm glad that the holiday is over and I can get back to my focus on total fruit, fresh vegetables a few carbs and little protein again.
I have figured out that holidays and vacations are going to take me back to the way I once ate and I'm just gonna have to learn to deal with it and get back on track after the fact.
I try and eat 5 times a day. I also try and eat as much live food as possible through out the day. I make it most days but one or two days every once in a while I may not.
For my peticular eating regiment I have stopped drinking coffee and have started drinking hot herbal tea. I have learned that coffee in general may not nesecessarily be bad for you, one thing is certain: coffee is usually one of the most heavily sprayed crops, and is often contaminated with pesticides, fertilizers and herbicides.
It is also a good idea to avoid putting milk and sugar in your coffee. The milk and sugar in your coffee are in fact much worse for you than the coffee itself. Finally, use only non-bleached filters. White coffee filters, which most coffee drinkers use, are bleached with chlorine and some of this chlorine will end up in your coffee during the brewing process. So, for all of you coffee drinkers start drinking organic coffee and only use non bleached coffee filters.
I have learned that having a large fruit bowl or 6-8oz total green fruit smoothie is best in the mornings for breakfast. Why you ask?? Well, fruit passes through the body the fastest and when one is trying to eat the healthiest and either lose weight or try to maintain their weight one wants to start with foods that will pass through the body the quickest first and that would be fruit.
Next, a person's blood sugar needs to be leveled out to maintain the body's metabalism and to level out one's blood sugar, they need to eata mid morning and a mid afternoon snack.
For a mid morning snack I like to eat 15-20 almonds but a small protein bar, handful of sunflower seeds or a small rice cake with a bit of homemade nut butter on it would be good too.
For lunch I like to eat my homemade and largest green leafy vegetable salad I can make and I make my own homemade ginger or garlic vingerette in the bottom of the bowl before I start adding a boat load of mixed chopped fresh vegetables and last mix spring greens with baby spinch and toss the salad from the bottom upwards. Sometimes I change it up and I make a homemade soup in the blender and have that for lunch.
For my afternoon snack I like to make a variety of fruit smoothies and I only drink about 6-8 oz once again. Sometimes I'll have the 15-20 almonds, or a homemade nut bar or popcorn just to change it up a bit.
For dinner, I'll have a small bit of protein of chicken, fish, shrimp or turkey, a bit of complex carb like bown rice or a sweet potato and a cup full of mixed and very lightly steamed vegetables.
That's pretty much my day of eating, every day.
I know this was a long post and I hope I haven't bored you to death but I wanted to share with you my healthy eating regiment.
Got questions?? Don't hesitate to ask, I'm around.
God Bless!!

Time to pause for lavender toes
Good evening...
Yesterday was my father's 6th year of his passing from non-hodgkins lymphoma. Two weeks prior to my father's passing, my mother got out of the house and went and got a manicure and pedicure.
She ran into a lady that was headed to the beach with her family for spring break and was getting her toes done a lavender purple with a white flower, yellow dot center and green stem added to her big toes.
My mother loved the idea and asked to borrow the woman's toenail polish.
My mother got her toes painted the same as the woman's and came home and told my sister.
My sister loved the idea so much she quietly started making phone calls all over town to family and friends telling them the purple toenail story and asking them to go to this peticular nail place and ask for them to get the same lavendar color and flower on their big toes too.
After my father's memorial service back at my mother's house my sister had every one to gather and she read a passage about feet from the bible. She then asked my mother to remove her shoes and as she removed her shoes to show off her lavender toes most of the women in the room, unbeknownst to my mother took off their shoes and showed off their toes too. My mother howled and howled and cried and cried.
My mother kept up the lavender toe tradition until this past year when she remarried. My sisters and I still continue the tradition. I want to show you:

Until next year... year #7.

March - National Nutrition Month
Good afternoon bloggers...
So, March is National Nutrition Month... who knew?? The whole month has almost past us by and I just found out that March is National Nutriton Month?? Wow, I guess knowing later is better than never knowing huh??
March is National Nutrition Month!!
So juicing fruit and vegetables... When I first started juicing I mixed every fruit and vegetable that I could get my hands on. I got my husband involved helping me juice and eventually he really enjoyed juicing and took it upon himself that he was "The Juicing Man" of our house hold. At that time I was drink 20 oz of juice every day.
My sister later inquired about my juicing every fruit and vegetable I could get my hands on and she sat me down for a long chat.
My sister explained to me that fruit was sweet and had sugar in it, natural sugar, but sugar none the less. Too much sugar overloads the body and no one needs sugar overloads in their bodies. She also told me that no one ever needs 20 oz of juice all at one time, ever. It was time for me to cut way back on the amount of juice I was drinking down to 6-8oz per day. It seemed to my sister that I was also not getting enough vegetables within the juicing so she told me to cut way back on the fruit and add more dark green leavy vegetables with lemons/and or limes with an apple.
So I did. Out went all the lucious sweet fruit and in came the darkest green leafy vegetables I could find, down to 6-8oz a day. I added carrots sometimes and tomatoes too but stuck with the dark green leafy vegetables.
Later, my sister explained to me in actuality that vegeables were to be juiced and fruit was to be blended. So I now have totally separated my vegetables with the lemons/and or limes and apple in juicing with frozen fruit, almond milk, cinnoman and ginger to make fruit smoothies.
Today, my everyday breakfast drink is a pear and ginger smoothie.
In a blender add:
3 ripe pears sliced and cored (not peeled)
2-3 large handfuls of raw spinach or baby lettuces
1 large handful fresh mint leaves
1 tsp ground ginger or 1/2 inch fresh ginger
1/2 tsp cinnoman
6 tbsps lemon juice
2 cups water
Blend until smooth. Pour 6-8 oz in a cup and drink. You may have to adjust the consistancy with a little more water if it is too thick. Enjoy.
My afternoon snack on accassion is a banana fruit smoothie.
In a blender add:
1 banana sliced (room temp or frozen)
1 large handful berries of your choice (room temp or frozen)
2 cups Almond milk
1/2 tsp cinnoman
1 tsp ground ginger or 1/2 inch fresh ginger
1 tbsp Carob Powder (Optional)
Blend until smooth and creamy. Pour 6-8 oz into a cup and drink. I personally like to use all frozen fruit because it makes the smoothie thicker and colder. Enjoy.
Enough for now... more later.
God Bless!!

The Alkaline Food Chart
Good afternoon blogger friends!! Today, I thought I'd share the Alkaline Food Chart with you.
What is the Alkaline Food Chart, you ask??
The Alkaline Food Chart is a chart that shows all Alkalined foods vs Acidic foods.
Why is this chart important you ask??
The Alkaline Food Chart is important because studies have proven and shown that people need more Alklined foods in their diet than they need Acidic foods.
An example of an Alkalined food would be: an avacado, Lima beans or granulated soy. An example of an Acidic food would be: Beer, Coffee or sweetened Fruit Juice.
The Alkaline Food Chart www.acidalkalindiet.com gives you a color chart (Red -Acidic, Green - Alkaline) of both Alkaline and Acidic foods within their own food catagory and PH ratings. At the end of the chart (7 printable pages) there is also a diet plan and questions to answer before starting the diet plan.
The Alkaline vs Acidic foods was one of the first things my sister started talking to me about before I started juicing, making smoothies and preparing raw meals.
Enjoy the chart, figure out the best plan for you and start to eat healthier and feeling your best!!

Over the coarse of a year - February 2011-March 2012
Good morning blogger friends!!
So, where to begin?? I will start back a little over a year ago where my sisters and I were planning a trip and one sister got so sick she couldn't go, so we canceled the trip.
It turns out my sister wasn't just run of the mill sick, she was really sick and the sickness was affecting her organs.
What did my sister do about her sickness you ask?? Well she dove into biblical scripture, rested in the Lord, learned how to juice dark green leafy vegetables, prepare raw meals, drink fruit smoothies, exercise on a regular basis, cleanse and detox her body in steam rooms and saunas and within 6-8 months time all of her organs and blood work came back NORMAL. My sister was healed. All the Praise be to our God on High!!
My sister started talking to me about everything she had been doing and found out about and started encouraging me to follow in her foot steps being a Breast Cancer survivor and having difficulties with my weight and all. I resisted at first, sat back and watch and eventually said to myself "It doesn't look all that hard, maybe I'll try it - one day."
I had a purse party that summer and my sister brought several of her raw meal samples that were really good. Most everyone at the party enjoyed the raw meal samples, they were a hit!!
I first started on Juice Plus - dehydrated, ground, fruit and vegetable tablets. Then I started juicing all the fruit and vegetables I could find. I loved it... I loved all the colors I created in the juicing.
From there, I stopped eating red meat all together. I added more fresh fruits and vegtables to my diet and switch from whole milk to Almond milk.
January 2012, my church communitively did the "Daniel Fast" - a 21 day prayer and fasting that gave several choices on how to fast. My choice was to only eat fresh fruit, vegetables, nuts, seeds, grains and peas and beans. I stopped drinking coffee, I ate no dairy, bread or pastas of any kind.
I had never done a Daniel Fast before and I actually finished the whole 21 days. I was so proud!! There is a saying "Do something for 21 days and whatever it may be will become natural, second nature to you."
Now I have been working out for several years with out stopping... I have finally figured out that I like working out and it really is good for my body. My trainer asked me to start eating Chicken, Fish and Turkey back into my diet for my muscles and I have reluctantly agreed.
My sister has taught me how to prepare several raw dishes in the course of this time that I now constantly make and she has also taught me how to dehydrate foods too.
Today, my sister is a Health Minister. She goes around her home area and teaches people all about foods both good and bad and teaches people how to prepare raw meals, juicing dark green leafy vegetables and fruit smoothies too.

Twas the Month of Christmas!!
Twas the month of Christmas when all through our land, not a Christian was praying nor taking a stand.
See the PC Police had taken away the reason for Christmas - no one could say.
The children were told by their schools not to sing about Shepherds and Wise Men and Angels and things; It might hurt people's feelings, the teachers would say; December 25th is just a 'Holiday'.
Yet the shoppers were ready with cash, checks and credit; pushing folks down to the floor just to get it!!
CDs from Madonna, an X BOX, an I-Pod; Something was changing, something quite odd!
Retailers promoted Ramadan and Kwanzaa in hopes to sell books by Franken and Fonda.
As Targets were hanging their trees upside down; At Lowe's the word Christmas - was no where to be found.
At K-Mart and Staples and Penny's and Sears you won't hear the word Christmas; it won't touch your ears.
Inclusive, sensitive, Di-ver-si-ty are words that were used to intimidate me.
Now Darden, Now Sharpton, Now Wolf Blitzen; On Boxer, On Rather, On Biden, On Obama!!
At the top of the Senate, there arose such a clatter; To eliminate Jesus, in all public matter.
And we spoke not a word, as they took away our faith; Forbidden to speak of Salvation and Grace.
The true Gift of Christmas was exchanged and discarded; The Reason for the Season, stopped before it started.
So as you celebrate 'Winter Break' under your 'Dream Tree' Sipping your Starbucks, listen to me; Choose your words carefully, choose what you say;Shout MERRY CHRISTMAS, not Happy Holiday!!
Please, all Christians join together and wish everyone you meet MERRY CHRISTMAS. Christ is The Reason' for the Christ-mas Season!!
Questions, Comments?? God Bless and MERRY CHRISTMAS TO ALL!!

Proud to be your Friend!
I like you because of who you are to me... A true friend.
Remember:
A good friend will come bail you out of jail...
But a true friend will be sitting next to you saying...We screwed up, but we had fun!
I've learned... that life is like a roll of toilet paper. The closer it gets to the end, the faster it goes.
I've learned... that we should be glad God doesn't give us everything we ask for.
I've learned... that money doesn't buy class.
I've learned... that it's those small daily happenings that make life so spectacular.
I've learned... that under everyone's hard shell is someone who wants to be appreciated and loved.
I've learned... that the Lord didn't do it all in one day. What makes me think I can?
I've learned...that to ignore the facts does not change the facts.
I've learned...that the less time I have to work, the more things I get done.
YOU ARE MY FRIEND AND I am honored.

Television Commercials
A fifth grade teacher in a Christian school asked her class to look at TV commercials and see if they could use them in some way to communicate ideas about God.
Here are some of the results: scroll down.
God is like... BAYER ASPIRIN He works miracles.
God is like... a FORD He's got a better idea.
God is like... COKE He's the real thing.
(This is great)
God is like... HALLMARK CARDS He cares enough to send His very best.
God is like... TIDE He gets the stains out that others leave behind.
God is like... GENERAL ELECTRIC He brings good things to life.
God is like... SEARS He has everything.
God is like... ALKA-SELTZER Try him, you'll like Him
God is like... SCOTCH TAPE You can't see him, but you know He's there.
God is like... DELTA He's ready when you are.
God is like... ALLSTATE You're in good hands with Him.
God is like... VO-5 Hair Spray He holds through all kinds of weather.
God is like... DIAL SOAP Aren't you glad you have Him? Don't you wish everybody did?
(that one is my favorite)
God is like... the U.S.POST OFFICE Neither rain, nor snow, nor sleet nor ice will keep Him from His appointed destination.
God may not always give us answers but he always gives us grace!

Happy Fall
Happy Fall and Pumkins...
A woman was asked by a coworker, "What is it like to be a Christian?"
The coworker replied, "It is like being a pumpkin." God picks you from the patch, brings you in, and washes all the dirt off of you. Then He cuts off the top and scoops out all the yucky stuff.
God removes the seeds of doubt, hate, and greed. Then He carves you a new smiling face and puts His light inside of you to shine for all the world to see."
This was passed onto me from a Pumpkin... now it's your turn to pass it onto other Pumpkins...

A long Autumn Season
Good evening readers... oh boy... it's been almost two weeks since I wrote... that doesn't mean I haven't been keeping up... I have. After a long hard month of October, Breast Cancer Awareness month, I have had a bummer start to November with very close friend to wind up in our local Pallaitive Care unit and just recently passed away.
Back in March 2010 I had another very close friend to pass away from Breast Cancer too... both were reaccurances and they both were close friends to one another as well.
Back in 2004, a group of about 12 or 14 Breast Cancer survivors and their caregivers formed an "Adventures" group. Over the years, we all learned to Fly-fish together and went on several Fly fishing expediitions together. We got really adventurous and took several trips down to one of the Carribean islands several years in a row.
We have bonded tightly throughout the years and now three in the group have passed away in the last 18 months. We have heavy hearts to see our dear, dear friends pass on but they are all in such a better place, walking the streets of gold, healed, with no more illness, pain, suffering or the shedding of tears. We continue to take care of the loved ones left behind and try to get back on track with our lives.
So thats where I have been.
I haven't kept up with the food diary in a couple weeks due to being focused on my friend and her family.
Two sermons I heard recently were Hebrews 12:1-2 on Saturday November 13th at the funeral I attended and Luke 6:27-42 Sunday November 14th in church. Both are excellant.
*QAD: "Don't judge a book by its cover, you never know what story it has to tell, it might just surprise you".
Tidbit for the day: Before getting on a scale to weigh... do not fill up on water and its always best to weigh right after getting up in the morning time after going to the bathroom before having the first cup of coffee or tea.
I have found a website called BlogFrog... anyone out there hear of it?? BlogFrog is a free website to that hosts hundreds of communities of bloggers and thousands of topics to discuss and talk about. I am still in the process of researching BlogFrog but I'm getting ideas for my blog topics too... stay tuned.

Major Events
Good morning readers...
Did everyone celebrate or participate in Halloween??
My husband and I do not believe in Halloween, so therefore we do not celebrate or participate. Our tradition is to go out and have a nice meal...
For the past several weeks I have a ton on my mind and haven't been sleeping well... I've been finding myself off to bed between 7-8p and getting up around 5a... mind you my normal hrs are in bed by 8:30p and up by 6:30-7a... last night I was asleep by 7:30p up at 3:30a back to bed at 4:45a and back up again at 6:30a... I can not seem to get a hold on my regular routine or figure it out...
Well today is the Mid term election day... polls are open from 7a-7p... GET OUT AND VOTE...
QUOTES
I love quotes of all kinds...
*QAD: What a distressing contrast there is between the radiant intelligence of the child and the feeble mentality of the average adult... Sigmund Freud July 2006
"If you Bite it, Write it"... Friend - October 2010
"Get out and vote... For those who do not exercise their right to vote, have NO RIGHT to Complain" November 2010
